I posted this question in the rss forum but did not get any response, I think this is a better forum for my question.

I going to be creating and distibuting an rss feed for the first time. I have seen many lists of sites where I can submit my feed to.

Will submitting my feeds to these rss directories and aggregators count as backlinks (even if for just some of them). I realize that other people/websites may pick up my feeds and link to my site but that is not what I am asking. I am asking, 'will the act of submitting in itself get backlinks?'

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, for some. You just have to look through the directories you end up in. But the most important ones such as MyYahoo will just get you traffic.

If you know you're RSS feed is being re-used in a manner that's outside of your published policies, oh alright every Tom, Dick, and Harry is scraping your feed for an MFA site, every once in a while make a post with some deep inbound links to different parts of your site. Call it the "Best of Site X" or "Site X Month in Review" or "Things you may have Missed" or some other such stuff. As long as you don't so it too often you won't piss off your regulars, and might as well get something out of the deal.
