Writing good content and/or providing photos is one of the fastest and most effective means of building links naturally. I once tried focusing my energies on link building campaigns and found it to be time watsed in most cases.
If I had spent that time writing, I would have reaped greater rewards!
Example as I just went through my links again and find were I am linked on another site that has gobe bad. The links page has gone from 10 links to 100 links some sites some banned, some sites dead etc. Just too many links to keep up with. This is not a quality link and not one I would like to remain with what do you do in this case?
The problem with link building is to many sites are just cramming the links on the page hoping for a quick fix or search results and it usually comes back to be drag on the serps. Especally in google.
I think the more the better is gone now quality is in sheer numbers was yesterdays spam.
Yes certian engines still use numbers but I feel this will update soon as the searches are really really spammy and they are losing traffic.
My advice and wnat I am doing for links is searching out like sites that I can tell are very picky in whom they link up with research the sites age etc. and approach them with an exchange.
If your site is worthy your work will pay off with good solid links that will build your business in years to come.
PS I always check all my links 3-6 times a year even good sites get desperate or do a site overhaul and IT doesn't have a clue about SEO or for that matter most of them don't care and you will find the link to the page has been deleted.
Take pride in your site validate it have contact information were you don't have to search for it and remember a link is for traffic anything else is a Blessing. Search out this way and your work will be rewarded.
