Affiliates and Link Development

Hi,
I've noticed many of the directories that we have submitted our client to have not added us but have added our competitors - on closer inspection most of these (Smaller) directories' links are affiliate driven. Do we need to go down an affiliate driven linking strategy or should we just keep knocking at the directories doors until they put us in!
Also how much value do you think the use of affiliates are to the creation of natural linking?

Thanks,

Ady

Try paying for a listing from larger reputable directories, like all two of them. I'm not being a smart alec, just giving you my honest opinion (not fact).

If these directories are software download directories, then you'll have to look into developing a pad file and checking out the available resources for that, which are freely available on the net.

If you mean running an affiliate program to get IBLs, it doesn't necessarily equate with getting link love since most go through tracking scripts. But it is a good way to get business going and revenue coming in if the program is good, as well as getting exposure and establishing branding.

Agree totally - major directories are better but were just looking to "mop up" and try to get more Recip Links.
