Links from Non-related Sites

Do they have any ranking value?

Hi,

I've joined some link exchange sites, and just within few weeks, my link popularity went up to 7,000+ from 100+

But the problem is that most of those sites linked to my site are not related to my site content.

I wonder that those unrelated links would help my site for better rank in search engine. I already knew that they don't drive me much targeted traffic.

I think you will see some benefit from the links. It is better to be on topic but those links should help if you have the right anchor text in them. From 100 to 7000 in a few weeks is IMO too many, too fast though.

Acquisition of non-related backlinks is not that harmful while it's accompanied with getting the related backlinks parallelly. Besides, you should also take care of not having linked to sites with "bad reputation".

That is bad news. Links generally don't develop that quickly, since this is a link-exchange site, you are probably not linking to the cream of the crop. My recommendation would be to leave this network and remove your links page.

My expereince is that non relevant recips have very little value for ranking anymore.

One way links from non relevant sites unfortunately still do.

Non relevant links also offer very little benefit in the form of conversions on visitors...
