OK I just recived an offer form a company who say that they will submitt my site to 100 Directories and also provide the snapshots as a proof. They are asking 50 $ for the task . Just wanna know is it worth it?

Ask them if they can give the list of directories (Not likely they will). Or atleast the profile of directories against few parameters such as -

- Indexed in Google.
- HTML links or not.
- Alexa traffic rank (Range)
- Updation frequency of directories.
and more I am sure.

May work fine, if you can put to use the time you would have spent on submitting to directories, on some more productive work.

For $50.oo bucks I'll give you an answer ;)

Serioulsy, knowing what I know today I wouldn't do it. But I know someone who would.. We've done real well by selecting very targeted directories and paying for inclusion there. Spend a little time and see what directories will serve you best and go for those.

My (limited) experience so far is that the good directories (ie human-edited, good PR, good traffic, direct links back to your site) are time-consuming to submit to, and each one has a different set of questions. I don't see how submitting to 100 directories for $50 can be anything other than garbage directories that probably exist solely for the purpose of running Google Adsense ads. I'd love to hear someone demonstrate that I'm wrong! I'd pony up my $50. But I don't think it's likely.

Thanks every one for the opinions...
They are providing the list of the directories along with the details like indexed in google or not and also no. of back links in each S.E. so i think may be it is worth to go for it.

At $50, what have you got to lose?

Just for comparison's sake, I know of a company that has a list of 120 or so top directories, some are pay-for-inclusion, some are not, and this company charges $10 per submission. (The total cost of the pay-for-inclusion directories is just over $2000, and you have to pay for that also, of course.)

So, there's a difference of, like, 2400% in price. I can't see how any real company could do such for $50, but then, what's $50? a month of dog food?

That makes a lot more sense -- charging $10 per submission. But on the question "what have you got to lose -- $50?" it seems to me that submitting to these kind of operations will greatly increase your spam, if nothing else.

ortelius speaks for me. Even $10 a shot is pretty good price if you have a "quality" submission.

Maybe see if you can double the price for them using a list of 5 anchor text and maybe a list of 20 descriptions that you give them.

Also, check the C-class range of the directories of if there is a noticible footprint e.g. the footer tag has "directory script made by XXX". If entire list is like that then SKIP!

But if only 50% are duplicate IPs/footprints then for that price it's worth skipping those dodgy ones and just go with the good ones in the list.

Oh and for submissions create a new mail for your website and let the company check that one for you for the required confirmation mails. Then delete it in 6 weeks time when it's only spam.

Or feel free to ignore any of this :-)

If it came via email, it's spam. Toss it and don't consider it. Even still, I probably wouldn't consider it.
