Well, I have to share this. I'm new to web development and a frequent user of these forums. My website is 4 months old and I've been waiting for 4 months for Google to come but to no avail. About a week ago I started to exchange links with various sites in effort to lure Google and MSN to come and see me. To my ultimate joy two days ago Googlebot arrived and swallowed my home page. Today I'm on Google. Only a home page right now but it's a start.

So links work. Don't give up folks!

Was anyone else in doubt? It was preached for years that getting links is the best way to get spiders in.

This was simply a statement to express my excitement.

I guess being a rookie to a web development can be quite exciting at times.

I took an advise (many I might add)given on this forum, put it into place and saw it work

Wow

When I build a new site I put up one link on an old site and google shows up within a week. You don't need a ton of link exchanges to get indexed.

I agree - you don't need tons of links - just one link form a page frequently visited by googlebots is enough but it was his first site
