Does anyone have experience in pitching a similar offer via an email like reciprocal exchanges? If so, what has been your success rate, or problems.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Instead of sending out emails pitching this invitation, I would go to sites that I want and see if they accept third party content and what the conditions are.
But I would want to first check out web sites of print publications in your area (there's still something about seeing your byline in print rather than on the web). Then just check out the online publications and newsletters that accept article contribution. Many online publications accept articles without providing any compensation to the author but allows a short author's bio (2-3 sentences) paragraph where you can put your link.
And of course, there are some services that have sprouted where they will circulate your article to various publishers -- for a fee (without a guarantee that any of these publishers will pick up your article). I usually delete those emails touting these mass-circulated articles in our online publication.
Note that many webmasters will be too lazy to think of your anchor text and will just do a straight link to your site (e.g. Mr. X is the webmaster of [widget.com)....] You'd want them to link to you using your keywords.
