Hi all,

I've been trying to find sites that will link to mine.

Many days, Sore eyes, sore fingers, and very few "add-your-url" directories added to my list of sites to submit to. A small list indeed.

Having searched for add url +myindustry, etc, There would seem to be thousands of people I could potentially link to!

Obviously many people have treaded in these footsteps before, so I was wondering if there was a list of sites which allow people to submit their websites for purposes of reciprocal linking?

Many thanks

Emmet

There are many sights like this. Search Google for "link exchange" (and ignore the Microsoft B2B sites--that's a banner exchange).

What I do, though, to get links from other sites is search Google for "<my keyword(s)> links".

Another way I do it is find all "important" sites linking to the #1 search result for my keywords at Google. For example, if my keyword is "widgets", I search for "widgets" in Google. Let's say the #1 site is www.widgets.com. I then do a search for "link:http://www.widgets.com" at Google, which will get a list of all sites linking to it (the sites are ordered according to how Google ranks their importance, so the best guys to get a link from are at the top).

Visit every site that links to your competitor and request a link.

Tada! =)

thats a good point - in my industry, many websites simply don't do link exchanges. So an easy way to get links is to look at the top guys and check their backlinks - most of the time they are all from places that will freely give you a nice one way link.

Let your competition do the ground work .

Have you tried this search, it has worked for me and my sites very well, just spend 20 min a day for a month -

intitle:add+url OR intitle:submit+your+site OR intitle:add+your+site "Put your keyword here"

Hope it helps.

Oh And make sure that the pages you link onto have at least some Page Rank to avoid getting affiliated with bad sites. ESPECIALLY avoid grey PR bars.
