Microsoft Corp. plans to launch its system for selling advertising alongside regular search results by June in the United States, giving the company its next piece of ammunition in the battle with rivals including Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc.

Will it be available to publishers outside the US?

This has nothing to do with publishers, this is for advertisters only.

so we still won't get any meaningful traffic from MSN, but now we'll have a third major PPC engine to maintain? Great!

"Will it be available to publishers outside the US? "

My guess is sure, if you live in Singapore. Isn't that where the did the beta run?

I got invited into the beta the other day. From what I can tell so far, the traffic is pretty minimal at this point. The markets served are the US, Singapore and France (don't ask me)....

I will say that they seem to have some good tools they are working on for importing campaigns from yahoo or adwords into the interface (these tools have some bugs right now). I find the overall interface kind of annoying, but that may just be because I'm not used to it yet and/or it isn't complete.
Also, to illustrate how minimal the traffic is at this point, their keyword suggestion tool shows 4595 searches last month for "mortgages" (btw, not my industry, just for illustrations sake).

Signed up with them a couple of months ago and have not been impressed. Ads rarely show up. Does this mean no more Overture on MSN at all?

Now, less Overture would be the only benefit. Overture is a pain in the neck. Must be one of the most horrible systems regarding usability. And you have to open an extra account for each country in the EU. Now how stupid is that. Hope that Microsoft comes up with something better.

msn usability isn't much better than overture right now either (although perhaps it will be by the time of full roll out)

If you want to see your MSN adcenter ads you should use the URL adcenter.search.msn.com
