Importing Keywords - Can you get it to work?

Started a campaign and set up an order. Tried importing both a csv and excel file (based on the templates provided) but got an error message pop up telling me I could only upload csv files or xls files.

So then I tried importing the example csv file without any changes and that gave the same error message!

Support got back quickly with some things to check, but I can't find a problem my end. I'm waiting on support to get back again.

Anyone else having problems with importing?

Thanks all :)

Be sure to close Excel on your computer before you submit the imported files. I don't know why, but if Excel is running, you will get that error message.

I've been struggling with this for the past 24 hrs.
I got some files to load; others no.

Originally I was told the file had a 20,000 keyword limit; then told 10,000, and the latest advice is 3,000.

Also, .csv seems to work better than .xls.

Thanks both.

awardsmaster. Thanks for the suggestion. Yes excel was closed. Support did send me a list of things to check (that included) but I seem to be OK with their suggestions.

westsider. Thanks for the feedback. I can't even get the example Import.csv file to import! I assume that the field header names should be included in the import file just like the examples?

I'll let you know if I get anymore feedback from support and if I get this fixed.

I have been including field names in the .csv, maybe incorrectly. still unable to upload this morning-- much worse that Thursday. It may just be the upload traffic is overloading their software.

MSFT ought to move to open source databases like MySQL and PHP instead of asp.

MSN seem to have got it together with importing keywords. I've managed to import several blocks of 1000 keywords with no problems.

This shouldn't have been an issue to start with but credit to them for sorting it so quickly.
