Want to get more active in posting in forums of a wide variety. Where is a good place to look? Are there any good directories that list forums?

What sort of forums are you looking for? Have you tried searching DMOZ?

DMOZ or the rearranged version at Google would be good starting points.

Actually, though, I'd lean toward topical searching using terms like "widget collecting forum", "widget discussion", etc. You could even target some of the common BB software, like "widget vbulletin" or "widget phpbb".

Among the SEs, Google's reliance on external linkage may allow its results to point you toward some of the more popular forums in a given area.

Thanks guys

I'm looking for health, medical and legal related forums. I've been trying the google searches for "law forum," etc and related phrases, but there just don't seem to be that many legal related forums (health is another story). Maybe there's an opportunity here?

You also might not find them by calling them "forum" or "message board" or whatnot. Plus, many of them aren't crawled well by bots, especially the older ones who aren't, um, retrofitted to be bot friendly.

I don't know about the state of "Delphi" these days. If it's still there in whatever permutation, you might check their listing for fora that interest you. Used to be, many of the fora at Delphi had links to other fora within the same or similar subject areas.

Might be a start....

Also, when using search engines, try using "discussions on law in *" (where the * represents the state, country, municipality, etc.). Or "discussions on prostate cancer" etc. to turn up health oriented fora. Also, you might access the state bar sites: they may have links....
