Ok heres how this will work Every person who replies will post a thread that will create a large discussion, alot of replies and possible help get lurkers to stop lurking, Now try to be as specific as possible:

There's a good discussion about forum lurkers [webmasterworld.com] in the library.

I think the "conflict" thread works in lots of areas - Windows vs. Linux, Ford vs. Chevy, etc. The only downside is that sometimes the discussion can get pretty heated and require moderation.

I have a rather new forum and many people (for a new forum) are registering... and Lurking! I can see them... But as the Admin everytime I answer a new post it appears I am the only one answering...

I had thought about pretending to be a visitor posting--but, that would violate my own terms of service!

Has anyone found a creative and honest way to make their NEW forum look like they were NOT the only one posting--and talking to themselves?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Anna.

Many forum admins adopt another persona or two to keep posting flowing or to express ideas that can't really be "official".

If you don't want to do that, enlist some friends to post.
