I have my hosting services hosting my domain and email service ... but can I spin email through my phpBB forums that is on the same domain hosting.

The below is what I need in order to set up my SMTP to work correctly in my forums ... :( I am not so sure about what goes in these fields. Can someone help me?

Use SMTP Server for email
Say yes if you want or have to send email via a named server instead of the local mail function Yes No

SMTP Server Address

SMTP Username
Only enter a username if your SMTP server requires it

SMTP Password
Only enter a password if your SMTP server requires it

Wolfe,
really hard to help you with this one, as these values will be completely unique to your smtp account. Basically, if you need to use the mail server instead of the default mail(); function, you need get these values from your host.

Example: smtp.example.com

Username and pw are self explanatory....

Hi Joe :)

So if I set this to Yes >>

Use SMTP Server for email -- Say yes if you want or have to send email via a named server instead of the local mail function (Yes/No)

then it will handle the emails properly? :)

If you enter the proper values for your smtp account, then yes. If you just enable smtp and do not specify account settings, chances are you won't get much email milage out of your phpbb.

Good luck! :)

BTW,
are you sure that the regular php mail(); function isn't working on the server?
