Hi all, first post so please forgive me if I put it in the wrong section. I cam along to the pubcon in London today and had a great time and thought I'd better log on and show my 'face' around here!

While I'm at it I was hoping for some advice from some people that know about it.

I'm looking for hosting - reliable hosting. Preferably cheap too but most importantly reliable. I'm currently with Powweb.com and while they are very cheap and the package sounds great the reliability is awful. It's slow a lot of the time and there are a lot of database connection errors etc.

What I'm after is a large chunk of space, say 5Gb, that I can put all my sites on, plus many many subdomains of one particular site for customer proof sites. So I'd like to be able to route requests to different domains to different folders in this file space.

I'd be running PHP, preferably Unix based and with mySQL. And it would be nice to be able to expand to as many mySQL databases as I decide I need (for a nominal one off charge, naturally).

Hmmm... did I cover everything? I think so. Oh yeah it needs to be reiable!

Does anyone know of such a thing for an affordable price? Thanks!

HI Mak and thanks for your first post and WELCOME.

Unfortunately, we don't allow "recommend a host" type posts, because everyone has had good experiences and bad experiences with hosts.

There are many websites out there which provide web hosting reviews.

Once you get going, feel free to post with any questions you might have related to starting, running, coding, browsing a website.

Thanks for the welcome!

Oh well I didn't realise about that rule, sorry about that. I was just hoping I could get some recommendations from people that know what they're talking about as last time I trusted a review site I was sorely disappointed.

*sigh*

On with the search! I'll be back to talk about CSS, PHP and other such delights very shortly, I have no doubt :)
