Are there any privacy laws to protect the contents of private emails? Is there anything one can do, any action one can take, if someone publishes on a public domain the contents of a personal email sent to them in confidence? Thank you.

Outside of libel and copyright laws, I don't know of anything

If you have serious worries I would consult a lawyer.

I think if you want privacy of your email contents you should mention each email that publishing of the contents and email add of this mail is prohibited without your permission likewise as you wish or better that you should consult your lawyer as IanTurner has suggested.
