How To Know If the Hosting Server is Fast

What determines fast server or hosting?

I am looking for a reliable and fast host, that can process information faster.

How can I find out what servers, or hostings are fast?

What numbers or things should I look for?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What do you want to be fast? Uplink speed or the CPU speed?

If you are worried about the connection, then you should get the server close (geographicaly) to your target audience. Request a "test file" - usually it's a relatively large file (10mb) which you can try to download yourself and see if the speeds are adequate.

If you are worried about the CPU, then there are way too many options. You should be more specific. Are you looking for a virtual hosting? dedicated? semidedicated?

Moltar thank you for your reply.

I don't know what is CPU, but I am looking for speed. I am in USA and my present server is in USA too.

What has happened is that Adsense suggested that sometimes when they crawl my site some of the pages are not available, and they suggested to check with my host. They suggested that the pages may be sometimes slow.

For example, You click on a page and the article opens, but the ads are either public or irrelevant, but once your refresh the page all is fine.

I communicated to Adsense, and they said that my host may be slow.

so what does slow means, and how can I learn what is slow and what should I look for when looking for a faster host.

10 to 1 your hosting is junk. It's not so much the hardware they are running, it's all the backend stuff. Although most high end hosters use dual processor servers.

If it's shared hosting, the cheaper the hoster, the more websites they put on each server. The more sites, the more likely the server will get bogged down. And usually the less quality bandwidth they have.

TOS doesn't allow talking about specific hosters. However, things to look for:
costs more than $8 a month.
dual processor servers
redundant data pipes
run their own data center

Very well reviewed, few if any negative comments on the web about the hoster.
