I just wondered, all those that deliver all these immense amount of pages, how did you choose your ISP?

What kind of systems do you use?

I assume specific providers are against TOS, but the hardware/ software specs would be interesting.

And what is your average long term load on these machines?

How do I take it from 20 dollars a day to 100 and more on the technology front.

Finding and obtaining an enough powered server isn't as hard and expensive as it was several years ago. Even a robust managed hosting solution is capable of serving that "immense amount of pages" these days.

For the server environment, I always prefer UNIX and Intel. For personal computing, I prefer AMD 64 and Windows.

I use freeserve because its free webspace. And earn 200 some days. 3500 monthly. Why do you need fancy servers or technology, and I have a total of about 150/200 pages. (never counted) Its the content that matters.

P4 - 2.4ghz
1gb DDR
2x 80gb sata drives (1 of them purely for backups)

Get about 3k visitors a day and im the only one on the server so its really quite fast... Sometimes slows down a bit but I have some rather large downloads on the site on it (100mb-650mb files)

Doesnt need to be too fast
