How to keep track of pages referring to my first page of the web site (has html codes only). the ISP requires that the first page be called index.html and thus I cannot put PHP/MYSQL code that works perfectly on page2.php

Thank you very much for your help

Any decent ISP should allow you to use index.php as your default page. If they don't currently let this work, you could request a change - it's a fairly easy change to make.

I checked again with the ISP, they said it must be index.htm or index.html

Welcome to WebmasterWorld CaidZamora,

do they allow you to enable php parsing for the html extension via htaccess?

Why not use some (free) tracking code - requires CGI though.

I use AXS by Fluid Dynamics - just google AXS...

you could ask your host the exact question I posted there, they should know what it means. I sure hope so anyway.

eesh... I'd call b*llsh*t to the host on that one and go get a new host.

If they are running Apache its a simple addition to the http.conf file. Either way if they refuse then I would be moving to a different host.
