newsletter submission field question?

is there a tutorial for doing this with mailman.

alright im a bit of a newb so bare with me. im trying to figure out how to setup a newsletter submission field on my site. just like the one at the very bottom of this page. so i have mailman setup on my hosted server and a db created in it. but i don't know where to get the script for my page itself and then how to do the rest of the setup. there has to be some kind of instruction for this process somewhere online i just have no idea where. can someone please point me in the right direction. my host isn't offering any help and my searches are fruitless. also, the mailman docs don't seem to explain this, just the actual mailman setup. i think im looking for php script but i don’t know for sure

Have you tried Googling newsletter script? Yahoo and MSN also produce similar results. You should find something there to suit your needs. I'm not familiar with the Mailman application, but you could add that to your query if the initial results won't work for you.

hello grandpa, thanks for the reply. i have been searching off and on for days now and everything i seem to turn up is for programs similar to mailman but nothing about the code i drop in my page for the email to send to the db. im sure there are lots of ways to do it by attaching it to a form, but im lost.

i'll keep searching though.

and speaking of, why is the search fuction for this forum directing everyone to a forum thread? kind of odd.

I added mailman to the search and I looks like yo might need to know a bit of Perl, which pretty much leaves me out. I only Perl when I have no other option. So, let me back out and maybe someone else can offer something that's actually useful.

i don't know perl at all.

if this gets too complicated then im going to have to try a different route. its just that mailman was already installed on my server so i thought id try and use it. but it seems huge. im skimming through the massive faq right now, and im getting lost. i just need a to be able to send out a newsletter for my record label and artists. nothing fancy. just txt is fine. any other ideas. free if possible

alright so i found the script here

its down about 2/3rds of the way at (4.33. How do I put a subscribe form for my list on a web page?) if anyone else ever needs it.

now i just have to figure out everything else. like keeping it one way and as simple as possible.
