hi there,

we have quite a few sites in the UK at the moment but we are launching one in the near future that will be UK based, but want to have a french, spanish and dutch copy of the site too. We have all the translation done for the site already. We havn't done a site that needs to be in different languages so this is where i need a bit of help.

Without having to put a few little flags on the page, is there any way of doing it by ip address or any way we could do it so the site would come up in the language of the user based on where they are from.

I would also be interested if this could cause problems with search engine optimisation for the site. Maybe putting other code on the page for the translation may affect it.

If anyone has any help they could volunteer i would be very appreciative.

Cheers

there are scripts around for geo targetting, another thing you could possibly incorporate would be checking the browser language

this is what I use for geo ip
