I have a question about this tell a friend issue as I'm confused right now.

For example I just finished with my ebook and it has branding possibilities, meaning that the users can make some money as well as promote their own business using the branding tool that allows them to enter their url, name, and email.

I have included in the ebook a tell a friend script with a message about the manual, this message cannot be changed, however what can be changed is a small text box where people can place their own download link.

My worry now is if a few bad eggs decide to use this tool to place an irrelivant link to say a sex site or they just spam outright, sending messages to unknown personal, in the hope that they can get some publicity.

how do you think this will affect me and my business... and how can i be protected... I keep a track record of who sent to whom and what ip.. but how can this help me?

Thanks

A good practice is to add a small disclaimer at the bottom of the tell a friend email that says something along the lines of:

"This email was sent from the tell a friend feature at http://www.example.com/tellafriend/. To remove yourself from any further tell a friend emails, please click here. To report abuse of this facility please email webmaster@example.com"
