Adding New Products

Does that count as new page and content?

Hello Everyone

This question may sound strange but I am relatively new to the webmaster game and I have a question.

I keep hearing you must add fresh and original content to you site in order to do well with rankings.

My question is this. Does adding new items/products on an e-commerce site filled with original content to your website on daily basis count as adding a new page and content to your website?

I ask this question because when my site first launched my site was getting spidered daily, now its been over a week since last visit.

I need someone's expert advice.

That is what I have done on my site for the past three years. Each new product usually has its own page and its own original content, which I write and try to make at least two paragraphs long, preferably more, plus of course pics on each page. I now have about 400 static pages. Spiders from Google, Yahoo, MSN, ask, Inktomi, Looksmart, and others come every day now. I noticed when I had a lull in putting up new pages, Google spidering lessened, but I wasn't sure if it was because of what I wasn't doing or because Google seemed to change how it spiders. It used to come once a week or so and crawl everything. Now it comes every day and crawls less of the site, maybe a third, different pages each time. At the time I wasn't paying any attention to the other spiders, because I had a mostly crap ranking on Yahoo and didn't even bother looking at the search engines. Now I have a good ranking on Yahoo for a lot of stuff, but I don't know why. Maybe because I put the robots.txt doohicky on the site, as recommended here. Heck if I know. I do know my customers like having a lot of pages to look at. I look at the stats and sometimes I can see someone paging through an entire section of 100 items and then they will bookmark it.
