I know there are numerous factors in determining if Internet traffic is down, but I'm wondering if there is a web site that reports current statistics on web traffic. It would be nice to compare my sites to others to see if what I see is a trend or if I'm breaking away from the pack.

In the past few days I have seen a small but unexplained decrease in traffic to my sites, just wondering if it's just me, or is this the start of the Summer Doldrums?

Thanks...

It's a little hard to find any accurate Internet traffic reports. The traffic decrease can be do to the fact that it's summer here in the USA, people are going out of state to have some fun for a change.

If you search for 'internet traffic report' you will find something that gives you (supposedly) the general state of traffic on the web. At this particular moment the traffic is trending downward.

Grandpa, very interesting. This seems to be just what I was looking for... I will monitor and report back how closely it matches my stats.

Sure wish they have a "week at a glance" instead of only 24 hour graphs...

They have weekly and 30 day graphs as well if you look closely.
I just bookmarked the main site. Its a nice fast way to see what the net is doing in general. -Larry

Yeah, I see that now... pretty cool, but it shows that for the past 30 days traffic has been going up in the US.... I can't imagine that is correct as we're going into the summer months...

"I can't imagine that is correct as we're going into the summer months... "

I think that, to a certain extent, traffic drops off when the weather gets nice. Then, as people become jaded about the weather, traffic picks up some.

My own site had traffic drop from roughly 3400 visitors a day down to as little as 2100 or so a day in May. It's now picked up again, and this week I've been back at the 3400 level.

If it's warm, most people find it pleasant outdoors. But if there's a heatwave, perhaps more people stay indoors to keep cool and avoid sunburn?

It would be interesting to graph national traffic levels against temperatures, but on a global level it's hard to get anything useful from the figures.
