I have a complete website with all the links working etc. BUT I want to change the filenames (urls) - not just this of course, but I need to change the filenames in the links on the webpages. An annoying little problem. Could be done manually of course. A real pain. Is there any tool out there that could help? Would be v.grateful.

Do you have access to Dreamweaver? It will automatically update the paths in other files if you change a file name (if you want it to) - will even update your css too.

If your pages are already live and indexed I wouldn't bother - changing the filenames will return 404's for referrals from any inbound links/SERPS you already have (unless you set up a redirect)

Sadly I dont have access to dreamweaver. I am using open sourse html construction tools. My website is not yet live. I really hope to find a solution to this. Would be so grateful. Perhaps an open source html tool has the ability to automatically change filenames?

If this could be resolved using find and replace, I'm sure there are some tools out there where you can do find and replace across multiple files.

I downloaded a free tool once to do this kind of thing, unfortunately I can't remember what it was called but it was a kind of text editor, and you could probably find it by searching on the net.

I am pretty sure HTMLkit can do it.
