I called their customer service because I have a business URL that is supposed to be forwarded and it has not and in fact, their whole site seems to be down. When I called, they said everything is fine and that it was my comp. HA Has anyone had similar probs? This has cost me countless lost customers that cannot access my site !!! very sad :( I used MS DOS and pinged the register.com site and it comes back as not found.

Working for me as well, best of luck in sorting out your problem, I had a site down for a week once, it's no fun.

Rockman, the site pulls up from Nashville. Birds chirping in the background and everything.

I am very confused, I talked to my ISP (earthlink), I'm in Las Vegas and they are in Atlanta, GA. Is there some explanation why I can access all other websites but not Register.com Or rockmanwater.com ????? , but people in other parts of the country can???

Yes. The links that make up the chain between your PC and the target have a break in them.

Someone accessing the site from a different geographic location does not use the same set of routers and servers that your packets follow.

If the break were near your home location, your surfing would be severely limited. A geographic location can be affected, an area code, sometimes a break can occur that only affects a single street or office.

I use a commercial tracing program that indicates where snarls occur. For you to trace the path from your PC to the server, you have to perform the trace yourself.

bigrockman,

I am using Earthlink dialup in the Los Angeles area, the site comes up fine here.

You could always try to dial a different Earthlink city to see if you can get through. It will cost you a long distance call, but hey, it may be worth it.

If you would like, I can sticky mail you the Earthlink phone number I am using. Then you will know if it is your local connection or your PC.
