I recently came in contact with a couple of website designers to build a website for rental vacation properties such as <snip>, or <snip> The designers stumped me, they asked what back end modules do you want, such as subcategories, etc.. As a new person in the website game, I really have no idea what they're talking about, where would I go to find out what those other sites have in their back end, is there any literature to read, or if someone can point me in the right direction, that would help me a lot!

Thanks!

Be easy with a newbie! :)

They are asking you where the information for the various properties is going to come from and how you want the site built to access that data.

IOW, will you have your own database of properties, prices, available dates, etc. or do you plan to hook up to one of the major travel companies and use their database.

Okay I understand that, but they are asking me about modules, and how the site will be built, and how I want it to be done with regards to how it works. Unfortunately, I have never built a website before, and all my other companies that have built other sites for me did the research. I tried to look for information on back end vacation websites but came up with nothing. Is it some sort of content management system? I read something about this, and hopefully I am on the right track.

Have you thought about asking your designer what they recommend and the pros and cons of each option? That seems like the appropriate step to take to me.

Okay, I will definitely ask them and see what they say to me. Thanks
