Strange guestbook entry

Is guestbook entry a message to spam bots?

On my site guestbook I got a couple of strange messages.

After a search on Google for the message text I got 298 matches.

Does any of you know why this message is inserted into lots of guestbooks?

I'm not sure what you mean by "message to SPAM bots", but the general reason for spamming guestbooks is to promote something.

Following the link left in the message will usually point you to the thing being promoted.

Spammers and scammers leave messages in guestbooks to tell other spammers/scammers and spam bots (robots looking for email addresses) that all email addresses on the page have been harvested. They use these messages for tagging pages.

My question was; was the message "Nice one, but i think you should focus on improving a little bit and putting new content. Ohterwise i always encourage such ideas." just another way of saying "all email addresses have been harvested".

OK, I'm with you now.

With that many results in google with the same text, quite possibly.

I would recommend removing e-mail addresses from a notice board, or encouraging people not to post them in the first place.

There's not a lot you can do about email harvesters, unless you know the IP address of the server they're coming from. The best you can do is not give them any success.

very interesting as i've come accros that phrase myself. Interestingly, the BL will usualy point to a well known "useless" page.

Hope someone can say what it is.
