The answer depends on what kind of server your site is hosted on, and what your technical definition of "domain pointer" is.
It is likely that this "pointing" was done incorrectly, which is the cause of this problem. Now, in addition to correcting the "pointing" you will have to take additional steps to remove the subdirectory-based listing from SE results. So, two steps will be required instead of one.
In addition, you may or may not have access to the tools needed to correct the problem, depending on your web host.
