We had just completed a few new websites and i am having an argument on how long it will take for a site to start showing up in relevant search results, anyone have an idea?

thanks

In my experience, there is no set answer. It can vary on so many factors.

If it's a new site, and presumably doesn't have too many backlinks yet, I would expect weeks to months.

Hard to be more precise...

You're arguing the point? I feel for you! :-)

It can be weeks, months, or never. I've seen sites show up in a matter of days, and others for whatever reason take months and months and finally appear in position 600,000. And it's different for every search engine, too.

It depends on the structure of the pages, the content, how agressive a placement campaign you run, and how much money you throw at it.
