Mirror Sites

I have a prospective client who has a large dynamic site. Within his domain
he has a number of product specific sub domains, the home page of each being
the relevant section of the main site. The problem is that he seems to have
repeated the whole site for each subdomain. This means he has 10 of exactly
the same site repeated over 10 different sub domains. Even though they are
all contained under one main domain I think he may be being penalised for
mirror sites. He has no rankings anywhere even though each page is meta
tagged specific to each product.

I think that he is not ranking cos he is spamming by having too many copies
of the same site. Do you think this could be the case.

Would you agree with me that he should split the content of the one main
site over the subdomains, interlinking each with each other, but only having
the relevant product pages on each sub domain? Do you think this will work
if he has been penalised already for mirror sites.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Im only a newbie, but ive been told it is bad to have the same content on duplicate sites, each different site can be the same theme, but different content..

As far as search engines punishing you for duplicate data, its possible this may have happened, but i suppose only time will tell..

Yeah, if he has that many dupes it is no good. Why did he set that many up anyway? Also, he could be having a ranking prob. due to the dynamic nature of the site.
