Many of the pop ups I receive are from pop up killer software sellers. A short while ago the were a couple of guys in court arguing that pop ups are protected under the first amendment. Their business was selling pop up killer software. Makes me leary of buying software that needs constant updating. Really, what a rip off - the companies making the pop up killers are making the pop ups.

What I'd really like to buy is software that auto responds to the popup ads, say every five minutes. If everyone had software that could overload the pop up sites I think these companies would stop their nonsense.

Anyone know of any software that could autorespond?

I think that might qualify as a sort of "Denial of Service" attack and thus would be illegal. At the very best, it would probably not be widely enough used to make much of an impact.

Better to get a browser that automatically blocks popups [getfirefox.com] and forget about them.
