New Virus Nopir-B

The worm is said to destroy the user's operating system, making it impossible to reboot computers. It deltes all mp3 files both legal and illegal.

from english.chosun.com [english.chosun.com]

It's only in Europe at the moment so people in the USA best be cautious!

That article talks about Nopir-B.

W32/Nopir-B is a worm for the Windows platform.

W32/Nopir-B will display an anti-piracy image on the screen when run. The worm will then delete all COM and MP3 files from the computer. The worm will also disable taskmanager, registry tools, and access to the control panel. W32/Nopir-B will also check for debuggers and may attempt to disable any such software that it finds.

Sounds like a dual-booting computer is a must-have. If a virus scans all local drives, then hidden partitions are also essential.

I just cleaned out 2.2 gigs of temporary internet files running under doze "millenium" on a friends ( here in France )computer yesterday ( their HD is only 8 gigs )..

His wife and kids only use it for downloading divx's and mp3's via k*z** and be*rsh*re ..they speak and understand no English and tend to click on "yes" when ever the machine asks them ..in case it's a "free" movie...

and ..yes I gave them all the expected lectures etc etc

Maybe this is why the writer of this lil' gem began it from here ....

Should boost the sales of new computers ...doubt if it will change anyone's habits tho ..
