A few days ago I noticed several new referrers in my analog report. They have taken over spots 4 through 8 for most referrals. This is amounting to over a hundred visits per day. But each seems to be the referrer of the same IPs and never requesting anything past the index page.

The user will hit my index page referred by one site or another, request several files, then the referrer will switch to anothersite, request the index page again and few more files, the referrer switches again to yet another site, do the same thing and continue to get index page switching again to yet another domain.

All these domains are registered at TUCOWS giving same tech support name, but with various private name owners who reside in Canada.

Anyone else seen this or have any ideas what's happening? Thanks.

Log spamming probably?

The more hits they generate with their spam domains as referrers the more the likelihood of them appearing in your stats since your traffic volume may push them off the stats as top referrers if they spam your log just once or twice.

No, not log spamming.

The 2 or three "portal" domains are requesting the index page then (I believe) placing ads on my content somehow with the "ads" domains.

I'm now blocking them and it has stopped:

Still. I'd like to know more about how they are/were doing it. Anyone have a similiar experience?
