The Metro newspaper (a free publication given out in London tube and rail stations) reported today that internet advertising revenue has exceeded radio advertising revenue over the last 12 months, for the first time.

This was reported back in July last year as ".... internet advertising revenue set to surpass radio advertising revenue in 3 years time".

Seems to be happening a lot faster than predicted.

Yes, and it was reported today that XM and Sirius are taking a huge chunk of listeners and revenue from traditional radio.

About time too, traditional radio has really sucked for years as Infinity and Clear Channel pretty much own everything and abused their monopoly.

...that internet advertising revenue has exceeded radio advertising revenue...

If a little business like ours in the middle of nowhere is spending almost $1000 monthly on PPC then you can see why traditional advertising media are threatened.

I used to sell Yellow Pages advertising for the phone company in another life and an account of 10,000 to 12,000 annually was a big deal.

Today it is nothing.

Businesses like travel agents are horse and buggy industries and will soon go the same way. 95% of our customers now book flights and accommodations on-line.

Those who do not see the future will be left behind.
