I hope I’m posting at the right forum.

I intend to buy a few domain names.

For revenue purpose, I will certainly add to the content of each web page, combinations of the following:

- Adsense Ads
- XML Feed – Espotting, Mirago, (who knows – hopefully some day even overture), etc.
- Affiliate Programs

In order to simplify domain management, I would like to purchase all domain names & hosting from the same company.

I don’t know much about web hosting, but I can only imagine that’s an important decision to make.

I see there are a lot of factors to be taken into consideration like:

1.Hosting Platform: Linux or Windows 2003?
2.Scripting Support: ASP, Perl, CGI, PHP, SHTML
3.Database Support: MySQL, MS Access
4.Additional features: Custom CGI Scripts, Pre-installed CGI Scripts
5.Should it support third party scripting? (I’m not sure if this is actually a different issue then the ones above)
6.I live in UK. Is it preferable to be a UK web hosting company?

Can someone recommend a “configuration” considering all the above?

Thx.

Not on your nelly mate! If you want 5 times as much cost and a poorer customer service level, then by all means.

Try some of the stateside hosters either in the US or in Canada. With the pound strength (or is it the dollar weakness) you can get dedicated servers with 100GB and 1GB RAM for around £250 per month.

Well, the platform will depend on what you want to do and what language(s) you want to use.

Do you want to go Microsoft-ASP-MSAccess/SQL Server or do you want to go Linux-everything else?

If you aren't going to program/manage the site, who is and what do they use?

Never buy domains from hosting company or hosting from
a domain registrator.
