Hi Guys

This may seem like a strange idea but I was thinking of trying to set up as many sites and generate as much traffic as I can.

I've worked in IT for a while an I understand SEO, programming and the web pretty well.

I also know how to monitise traffic using affilate programs and selling to Mirago/Espotting etc.

My question is do you think it is possible given a year of full time work to generate a reasonable ammount of traffic? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

I want to make approx. £1000 a month working on it full time.

Welcome to WW bigmog!

It's definetely possible. Some people make 5-6 figure numbers/month. It's a lot of work. It's not easy. But it's definetely doable!

If you have never built websites before and haven't done any SEO, then you will probably make a lot of mistakes, but that is how all of us started. Learn on your own mistakes. I am not sure if it's doable in one year with no experience at all.

You can always ask questions here! This is the most helpful place you will ever find.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've been working in IT for about 12 years in Internet based applications. I've built a few sites and have built two up to PR5. I've also had some success with doorway pages for an anti-spyware site I did.

I've got almost enought to live on without the income from it but I see it as a way to boost my income a bit.

Also I see web-traffic as the future currency of advertising.

I do nothing other than SEO and earn a good fulltime living but constantly keep in touch with what is happening out there by checking in here.

Here you go - you answered your own question :) Just work a little harder, get more visitors = more money.

I would add to this that it is possibly better to target an industry or sector and become a guru in that field.

There are so many companies out there offering pure SEO and many more also offering SEM that to find you clients is initally going to be your problem.

Good luck with your venture.

From his first post he is not going to be selling SEO services, he wants to set up his own sites and live off of them.
