Installing GD Graphics Library on a virtual server

By default the GD graphics library points to /usr/local/lib directory, which I don't have access to on my virtual web host. i want to change the /usr/local/lib install to /www2/myhost/lib and /www2/myhost/include

I'm a freeBSD novice at best, and don't know what I should change about my ./configure text to fix this. do i need to change all the files independently? that seems a bit time-consuming for something that I'm sure other people must do to run this
