Adding SPF Records

Avoiding being tagged as a spammer

I'm setting up a site with a host that says they don't set up SPF records for the domains they host. However, they will add a MX record. Is this the same thing, or will they serve the same purpose? I tried searching around but the results were just that much Greek to me . . .

Search this site for "SPF" or "Sender Policy Framework". There are a few threads. I do not use it [webmasterworld.com] at all and have not had any issues with emails being tagged as spam.
