Ok, so i used to do this SEO thing and i suppose i did ok. I've since moved on to consulting. Now, I find myself in the middle of a huge project with no one to point to but me....

I just wanted to get some kind words and freindly advice on how I should go about doing the international thing. I have translations and such. I just need to confirm the next step.

Any takers?

>I have translations

We had a thread way back which talked about the need for translations at the local level.

Next step: have the translations checked.

Hi Joe, welcome to WebmasterWorld

If the translations are in place basic market and keyword reseach is also done?

Okay, what Mike says: translations are crucial. Double check them, for grammar etc, but more importantly for cultural compatibility. make sure the tone is right, the metacommunication works the way you want it. Test with local speakers.

Next, is the code internationalized? Metatags, links, alts, file names?

Is the linking system between the different language versions in place?

Okay, then you should be basically ready for an SE strategy.
Submission files for all targeted countries with a list of the most important directories of course are at hand.
For a European campaign we have a very interesting case study going on here:

heini: "Test with local speakers."

test with local speakers who have some expertise in the relevant subject...if at all possible...we find our translation company make almost no errors, they produce text that is accurate and easy to read...we also find that our local experts can always improve on some of it
