Worthless reciprocal links

Do you get these emails?

I get requests for links on a regular basis, but not from sites similar to mine. Apparently, there are webmasters who place random links on obscure pages on their server, then email me announcing that they've linked to me, and ask for me to reciprocate.

These link pages cannot be found by their users. I've tried. The latest one was actually in a "Temp" directory.

So I decided to oblige them by creating a page just for this kind of link (as they do). Here's the path...

[my site]/buried/private/keep-out/no-trespassing/buried-links-for-sites-that-bury-our-link/index.htm

... where I link to their link page only... not to their main page.

When I link to another website, I always place the link on my front page, and with my CMS, that means it's on just about every page on the site. But if you bury my link, I'll bury yours.

yes, get those a lot, quite charming actually!

i'm also very fond of those that inform me that they've linked to me but i can't find the link at all.

... closely followed by those who like to give me some search lessons in their emails, they like to tell me about page rank and the value of link text and so on.

I like the ones where they ask for me to link to them at siteaaa.com and tell me that my link can be found at sitefff.com

As if.

You mean you visited their site to look? Gosh!

I just bin the emails.

Yeh agree with the above, they just go in the trash with the rest of the spam.

Well there are a few educated people here. LOL. Just bin the emails and forget it. I would do the same thing.
