By some numbers Yahoo and MSN have 57% of the search market now
are meaningless. "Some" numbers? What does that mean.
I just checked our site, and his 57% is more like 17% on ours. And that range seems to be consistent across most of the internet - Google seems to provide 60 to 90% of hits for most sites.
A snapshot of our hits just now shows:
33,102 google
4,113 yahoo.com
3,929 google.ca
2,790 msn
1,884 aolsearch
970 froogle
However, the comments on relevance hit home I think. Not sure what happened recently, but I see a lot more total junk in searches. Not just junk on-topic sites, but sites that have little relation to the search terms. And don't get me started on the totally irrelevant Google Ads.... (Sexy Welders...)
It will turn up 200 or 300 sites with my site referenced or linked but not my site
I have seen this happen on our site. We have a few in depth FAQ pages. Some will come up on page 10, but sites that link to that page will be on page 1.
