I left my web designer job to do search engine optimisation full time somewhere else, i've noticed the web designers do different things here, does every do this or am i just really behind here?

They dont use tables as its bad for accessibility, they use div tags and css styles for positioning things, they also dont really use keywords in the meta tags, i mean they do briefly but its nothing compared to what i used to put in.

I would like to get back into web design again one day but if this is the way everyone builds a website i dont think i'm skilled enough :o/

thanks for any info

You still can, the changes are made due to changes in search engines a lot of the time.

Css a lot of people prefer just because it's cleaner, less code-bloat and you can do some amazing things with it :)

Meta Tags are still used but they are not the main thing you are ranked on by a long shot. They are just a small peice of the puzzle. I believe the meta keywords tag is only included a lot of the time 'just in case'.

Read some of the 'library' threads here (inc Bretts' 15k visits/day in 12 months) and you'll be back in no time.
