Hi

We've just purchased a dedicated server and I decided to create a sub domain for one of our sites.

I went to our control panel and created the A record ok, then went, via Remote Desktop, into IIS to create the site.

Everything seemed ok, but when I went to try and access the sub domain via a browser I had to log in. When I logged in the page was there ok.

Does anyone know (from the few details above) what I've done wrong and how can I fix it?

Thanks

Mick

Does the control panel not create the sub-domain in IIS? Where are you pointing the sub-domain to?

Thanks for the reply Corey.

Our process is split into two:

I have to create the sub domain A record by logging into our previous hosting companies control panel (the domain was hosted on a shared server before).

Then using Remote Desktop, I log into our dedicated server to work the IIS and create the web site entry.

Everything seemed ok, just when you try and access the new sub domain the system makes you log in using the servers username and password.

Where are you pointing the sub-domain to? It sounds like you have not set up the permissions appropriately. Have you verified the permissions on both the main domain compared to the sub-domain?

Corey

The permissions are the same as the www. version of the sub domain. The only difference being that they are greyed out. Looks wrong, but I can't see how to change that?
