Need better stats software

I have cpanel with webalizer for stats. From time to time, something happens at my hosting company, and all the stats are lost.

This week the stats seem to have shut down altogether, and I show nothing for March (not even indicating that February has ended).

I'm getting traffic, as indicated by Adsense, but my stats repeatedly go down.

I read posts here indicating that some of you get very detailed stats. Is there software I can get free that would be immune to the whims of my hosting company?

First you might want to download your logs to your computer. Then you can use any one of the handful of good log analyzers out there. I use [analog.cx...] It is free and fast. If you want more detailed analysis you might try urchin or webtrends. The next level up from that is pretty pricey.

We also use Analog. It produces full analysis of your log files, or as little as you want. Don't be fooled by expensive programs that claim to be able to tell you things like "entry page" and "exit page" and "unique visitors", these claims are untrue.

We do use Fireclick to tell us entry and exit pages, unique visitors etc, but we pay for it every month. The free ones will not provide this level of detail.
