Hi:
Does anyone know where I can find a free zip utilty, that will both zip and unzip files? One that does not install 3 or 4 other exe files and have you contend with pop up ads or trogans? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for your time.

Back when I used Windows, I used FilZip. It's a great free program that seems to do everything that WinZip did except that FilZip is completely free.

Win-GZ. Google it and pick the 4th serp. It doesn't say anything about XP, but it works fine for me with XP.

Go to sourceforge net and look for 7zip it is free and gives better compression than the most common commercial zip version.

You could try ZipGenius. I don't use it but I believe it is very good.

Or if you have windows xp (or this may work on other os, I haven't tried) do the following in 5 simple steps:

1. Highlight and copy all the files you want to zip.
2. Right click in the folder where you want the zipped files to be and click New --> Compressed (zip file)
3. Name it. Open the zipped folder.
4. Paste the files.
5. Enjoy and share your zipped files.

Just checking if that works now...

It should and we're running on XP Home SP2
