i was just wondering...i'm at uni one day a week and for every day that i work as a web designer i get £33.75 a day, i've only been doing it a year and a half so i wasnt fussy how much i got, then i applied for another web designer job to get a bit more cash, i've got the job as long as i do seo stuff aswell, and for this i get £35 a day... i'm in the north east so i know we get less from you southerners but what is the usual wage that people get?

sounds pretty cheap. you could probably make more than that flipping burgers. (or making pizza's as i did when i was at uni :). Obviously that wont compete in terms of job satisfaction/not having to run a round in a hot kitchen though...

but then it depends on your skills/quality and speed.

im in the north east too, and get a reasonable salary.

<added> having said all that, my first job as a pro web designer - i spent a year getting about the same. the experience was invaluable and now i get more </added>

Thanks for that, i know what you mean, i have learnt a lot at my £33.75 job, but i was hoping in my next one i'd get a teeny bit more than £1.25 extra a day!

Same as Ben (got pretty good at making Pizza bases too!)

Just keep at it, experience is your ticket to a bigger pay packet - I'm still a relative Newb myself (4years). When I was starting out at uni I asked for nothing, after a few sites I asked for £8per hour, I can now ask for more than treble that when free-lancing - At work our designers and developers are charged out at £50 and hour. Not sure if this is the usual wage though (North UK)
