Getting help from my readers

One of my big dreams is to eventually be able to provide translated versions of the text of my website in as many languages as possible. I run the website on a shoestring, so there's no way I could afford to pay for professional translations, but readers have offered to translate text in the past. It would just be too time-intensive to manage this process, but I was thinking of building a Wiki to do it, where anyone is free to offer up a translation into the text of their choice.

Has anyone seen a content website which is kind of like a Wiki, that allows people to write translations and then edit them etc?

I'd love to see some kind of implementation of this.

I haven't seen this implemented, but it does sound like an interesting idea. As long as you set the proper character encoding for each language section you should be able to make headway.
