My blog eastcoastagony.weblogs.us has been receiving a lot of garbage traffic from Google because of comment spam. I laboriously deleted the offending material last night, but that hasn't been reflected in Google yet.
Does anyone know how long this might take to be corrected, or if there is some other step I can take?
Thanks.
Some of my sites are updated on a daily basis, others take weeks. Google automatically adapts the number of times their bot visits a page depending on the amount of daily changes of a site, popularity etc. So it is difficult to say when your listing is updated.
If the comments were on a separate page, and you deleted that page completely, it may take months before Google deletes the page from their index. It assumes the page is temporarily not available and will try again in the future. In the mean time it keeps the most recent version in the cache.
In that specific case you might want to add a 410 line in your .htaccess file (if running on Apache) to tell the page is gone and will not return.
BTW, posting your specific URL is not allowed by the TOS and will probably be deleted soon by one of the moderators.
