New link Structure - Is it worth going away from the <A href?

Changing to a new Hierarchy structure, will it affect our ranking?

In the past we have always used the <a href="" for links. However, we are looking to change our hierarchy structure, to make it easier for us to maintain the site, and easier for customers to find what they are searching for.

The solution we are thinking about switching to uses the following for link type <div class='CategoryBox' onClick='window.location="http://www.mysite.com"

Anyone have any experience using the onclick= function, and know if it will reduce our web rank in the search engines?

I wouldn't do it! You will effectively lock out any users who have JavaScript disabled. It could wreak havoc on your rankings as well.

I'm interested to know how this change would make it easier for us to maintain the site, and easier for customers to find what they are searching for.

BTW, welcome to WW!
