Redirecting "Referred" Links

Annual Credit Report site does not allow referred visits

The federal government has forced the three major credit reporting agencies to allow consumers 1 free credit report every 12 months. Obviously they are not happy about it.

Being the webmaster for a financial institution I want to post a link to the free service site so that our customers can make use of it. However, links to the site result in an error message. Note: typing or pasting the address into the address bar works fine.

My assumption is that they are checking for a referrer and then redirecting if one is found. Is this likely to be correct? If so, is there any way around it?

Write your congressman. They might find this a nice issue to grandstand on. The credit agencies must be afraid everyone would give links to the free site, and they'll lose revenue from all those selling the same info to consumers.

I don't know if there's a a technology way to do this. Can you somehow send a referral that looks like a direct request?
